Utter silence grew in the dark and empty forest. Not a single soul stirred in the nest, and Cedric could feel the eerie silence hanging in the air. His soft brown fur stood on end suddenly as he detected sounds from another animal creeping slowly around outside of his nest. He had long, naked ears - unusual for his age- and was often teased about it. He had a white stripe on his back, but the rest of his fur was dark brown. His hairless tail curled around his body. Cedric peeped outside hopefully, yearning for a clear night.A sharp gust of icy wind slammed into Cedric's small, shivering face.In moments, the whole world changed. Waves in the distance started to appear. They crashed against the sturdy, wood dock, then broke into millions of water droplets only to fall back to the lake. Cedric had never been so frightened before in his like. Cedric trembled, his heart beating, his baled tail flickering about, his whole body was shivering. The sky whirled different bluish hues and the sun had been kiddnapped and been set behind black puffs in the sky. Thunder rumbled, the dark waves of the lake crashed against the shore, and rain pelted down on the ground like ice, with sounds like gunshots, echoing in the dark night.
Cedric gathered up all his nerves looked around carefully his eyes darting, and dashed to the next shelter, the big towering oak tree where Edwin the third lived with his second wife and children. Edwin III was Cedrics biggest problem because he wanted gooble him up in one big bite. Edwin was a grey owl and loved snackind on little mice like cedric. When he got to the big oak tree his heart was thumping like a hammer and he curled up to the roots of the oak tree breathing heavily. All of a sudden Cedric heard a loud booming voice as Edwin III hooted out in to the dreay forest " I see you Cedric, you better run as fast as you can"! His voice echoed in the empty forest bouncing off trees and the heading straight to Cedric. Cedric quickly stood up his eyes looking for a spot to hide then he felt Edwin III's talcons skim his back as he took his first swoop. He knew there was no time to run back to his hole. Not knowing what was behind him, he scurried as fast as he could and not even looking back. When his lungs were screaming for air, he slowed down and shakily turned his head hoping not to see anything un-wanted. Luckily, all he saw was tall grass behind him and a few trees surrounding in every direction. He had no idea where the nest was, and slowly accepted that he was lost.
